REAL Jobs is an initiative by Catalyst Connection that seeks to connect community members with manufacturing occupations. Individuals from underrepresented groups, veterans, and the reentry population with a high school diploma and technical aptitude are encouraged to apply. This is an opportunity to gain paid experience with one of our local robotics or advanced manufacturing companies.
Additionally there are some opportunities for upskilling in the current slowdown.
1. Cube Cut. Cube Cut is a game produced by Sim Coach in partnership with Catalyst Connection that helps test your aptitude in machining skills. Machining is a highly desirable skillset, and SWPA is the highest paying region in the country for machine operators. Several new features have been introduced including a level creator. (It’s a tough game, keep trying and don’t give up!!)

If you decide that this is something that you have some aptitude for, I highly recommend that you apply to New Century Careers. NCC is a completely (100%) free short term training opportunity that teaches the machining trade. New Century Careers
2. Mechlife. Mechlife is a game produced by Sim Coach in partnership with Catalyst Connection that helps test your general mechanical aptitude. It is a role playing game that has you guide a character through several real life situations that help test your mechanical aptitude. It’s a fun, laid back game, with a tiny bit of guidance my 8 year old was able to play her way through it.
