Catalyst Connection recently partnered with JARI and Made in Johnstown to offer a no-cost, two-day adult career bootcamps in downtown Johnstown to connect individuals looking to pursue a career in the manufacturing industry with relevant equipment, resources, and local employers looking to hire.
The two-day bootcamps, held in February and March, trained 18 students of all backgrounds on a variety of small manufacturing topics including:
- OSHA Workshop Safety, Intro to Woodworking
- Intro to Metalshop
- CNC Machining
- Automation in Modern Manufacturing
- CNC demos (laser, plasma, and router)
Day two featured a graduation and networking lunch providing an opportunity for students to speak directly with local employers which included representatives from Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center, JWF Industries, Lockheed Martin, Martin-Baker America, PA CareerLink® Cambria County, and Penn Machine Company.
